The third FORWARD 50 LEADERSHIP SUMMIT will be held on Friday January 27th and Saturday January 28^th, 2012. The purpose of the Summit is to provide participants with an exceptional opportunity to make an intentional decision to become a leader. Through a combination of case studies, input from industry and faculty leaders and discussion with other students, participants learn about themselves and how their leadership skills compare with the characteristics found in strong leaders.

Some of the key characteristics of leadership covered in the Summit are: self -awareness, self-management, motivation, social skills, transparency and integrity, passion, and risk taking/risk management.
The expected outcome for participants is an enhanced understanding of what is necessary to become a leader and an appreciation of the core competencies and skills they need to acquire if they are to grow and become a good leader.

We as student group leaders in TRSM strongly believe that business-specific career services are essential to building the skills, experiences and connections we need for career success after we graduate.
Here are the facts:

1. TRSM Career Centre is currently the least funded business career centre in Canada

2. We are asking for an ancillary fee of $50/term to go towards business –specific career services only accessible to TRSM students. Ivey students pay $450/term. Telfer students pay 100/term. Sprott students pays 90/term. Degroote students pay $65/term.

3. If the Referendum succeeds, the Staff-to-Student ratio in the TRSM Career centre would reduce from 1 staff for every 3427 students to a manageable size of 1 staff for every 876 students.

4. The fee will start being collected September 2012

5. The service will extend to YOU as an alumni for 2 years!

6. More job and internship opportunities will be available to YOU!

7. More on-campus networking and recruitment events will be offered to YOU!

8. The centre will conduct program-specific marketing and outreach to employers for YOU!

9. The Centre will provide one-on-one, program specific advising and career preparation support to YOU!

The deadline to apply for each position is MARCH 26^th, 2011 BY 5:00 P.M.

Only completed applications will be considered. A different application will need to be submitted for each award. There is no limit per student group, however, the 150-word statement will need to be directed to the specific award. You can find the submission form here.

The prizes to these awards include but not limited to: Lunch/Dinner for your student group, Gift Certificates, Bonus cash increase for student group chit and other surprises.

Applications are due March 18th by 4pm.
Review period will take place on March 21-25.

Where is the event? The lecture portion of the event will be held at TRS 1-147 and the golf portion will be held at Polson Pier. Transportation is included in the ticket price.

When is the event? Sunday, April 3rd from 11am – 4pm.

Who will be at this event? The Dean, Dr. Ken Jones and 2 representatives from the Ryerson golf club.
